Common Knowledge is a Glasgow-based project designed to help change the way Glasgow includes and supports people with a learning disability through a series of linked learning activities - creating learning for individuals, learning for different services and learning in local communities. Common Knowledge is a partnership between people with a learning difficulty, families, statutory and voluntary sector organisations, further education colleges and Social Inclusion Partnerships. The project is managed by the Scottish Human Services Trust (SHS) and jointly funded by the European Social Fund , Glasgow City Council and the NHS in Glasgow. - I:Xseed
I:XSEED is the website of the Glasgow Learning Disability Partnership. This is a partnership between Glasgow City Council's Social Work Services and NHS Greater Glasgow. Services in Glasgow for people with learning disabilities and their carers are available through the Glasgow Learning Disability Partnership (GLDP). In the GLDP Health and Social Work Services are working together to deliver services that are local, often all based in the same building, are easier to use, and will meet your needs and choices more closely. Enable Scotland provides direct services to people with learning disabilities and their families in local communities in Scotland. Current services include supported living, small group homes for people with profound and complex needs, day services, family advice service, family-based short breaks, after school care and employment services. Quarriers is a Scottish-based registered charity which aims to overcome personal and social disadvantage, create opportunity and offer choice to children, families and others in need of support. Some major service areas include residential care for adults with learning disabilities; residential care and assessment of adults with epilepsy and respite care for children and adults with both learning and physical disabilities. The Foundation for people with learning disabilities is part of the charity the Mental Health Foundation. It aims to improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities through research and dissemination. The site includes information on issues such as the rights of people with learning disabilities and details of projects and publications. - National electronic library for learning disabilities
A virtual branch library of the NHS National Electronic Library for Health. This site is produced in association with the British Institute of Learning Disabilities and contains key documents and articles as well as links to relevant organisations on the Internet. - Norah Fry Research Centre
This is the website of one of the leading centres in the United Kingdom for research into services for people with learning difficulties. Rigorous research conducted at the centre evaluates services: highlighting good and innovative practice, identifying weaknesses and suggesting areas for development. One of the central concerns is that people with learning difficulties are fully involved with research that is related to them. The site contains information on current projects, publications and related websites. - Paradigm
Paradigm is a learning disability website whose aim is to provide a high quality source of up to date and relevant information free to anyone interested in promoting person centred approaches. It provides access to articles, UK government policy papers and a large number of disability links, as well as details about the work which the organisation does, and details of forthcoming conferences. - The Tizard Centre
The Tizard Centre is one of the leading UK academic groups in the UK working in learning disability, mental health and services for older people. The centre has excellent links with social service departments, health authorities and other relevant organisations. The Centre provides short courses and degree and diploma programmes at the University of Kent at Canterbury and elsewhere and also has an extensive programme of consultancy and research - both nationally and internationally.
