Glasgow Palliative Care Network (GPaC) is a network of people and organisations involved in palliative care in the Glasgow area. The network has been created to provide information, advice and training materials about palliative care. Organisations involved in Glasgow Palliative Care Network are: Greater Glasgow Health Board, Marie Curie Centre, Hunter's Hill, St Margaret's Hospice, Clydebank, the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and the Beatson Oncology Centre Specialist Palliative Care Team. The library and information service belonging to the Glasgow branch of Marie Curie Cancer Care, a charity dedicated to the care of people affected by cancer and the enhancement of their quality of life through its services, research and education. The library has a collection of books, journals, newsletters, reports and guidelines in the fields of palliative care and cancer/oncology. Membership of the library is open to students on the Marie Curie Diploma/BSc Degree Courses, Marie Curie Centre staff and Marie Curie community staff. Researchers may have reference access by prior arrangement. Enquiries from the above categories are accepted by phone, letter, fax, email or in person. The library contains one open access PC with Microsoft Office and Internet facilities. The library is a member of SHINE, the BMA library, the British Library and the UK wide Marie Curie Library and Information Service. Marie Curie Centre, Hunters Hill is one site within the charity’s Scotland & Northern Ireland Sector. BTA arose out of a need from patients and carers attending the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh to have someone to talk to, to know that they were not alone and to realise that there were other people going through the same problems and experiences as themselves. The British Lung Foundation is a charity which funds research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of all lung diseases. It also runs the Breathe Easy Network offering information and support to lung condition sufferers, their friends, families, carers and health professionals. This site contains information for patients and professionals on the foundation's research activities, news, funding and regional centres. There is also an information section with details of publications and downloadable leaflets in PDF on lung conditions and issues related to lung conditions such as air pollution and the environment. CancerBACUP is a charity providing a free information and support service on cancer, and access to key publications and resources. The Glasgow office is equipped with the full range of CancerBACUP literature, available free to enquirers. If you are a patient or relative/friend, you can get any of CancerBACUP's easy to understand booklets on the common cancers, their treatments and how to live with cancer free of charge. In addition there is information provided by other organisations where this complements the range of CancerBACUP literature . Teenage Cancer Trust focuses on the particular needs of UK teenagers and young adults with cancer, leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and related diseases. The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only charity in the world wholly dedicated to defeating lung cancer, the biggest cancer killer in the UK.
